"I tear at my breasts and scream because I cannot tear myself away from the patriarchy.
I tear myself apart between who I am and what is expected of me."
This work expresses the inner conflict caused by societal expectations and restrictions.
"I am not an object.
I am not a mirror for your desires!
I am human!"
It reveals the inner struggle of duality: the need to inhabit and love one’s own body collides with the feeling of being trapped - by the constant expectations of a patriarchal society, sexualized objectification, and degrading judgments. The scream becomes an expression of the desire for liberation, while the act of tearing at my breasts makes visible the sense of being imprisoned. (M.M)
