This work comes from an inner struggle with my own resignation. I wanted to create something, but I felt resigned and low. I decided to just start without any pressure or expectations of myself. It was my first piece in a long time.

I painted one wild brushstroke after another, not knowing where it would end, until I saw a hand in front of a face and knew: that’s it. To me, this image represents the internal fight between looking away and choosing to see and somehow doing both at the same time.

"My mouth won't speak, my mind silences my body, and only my body insists on speaking."

The only thing I knew was that I wanted to use just two colours: red and blue. Red represents strength, power, and feminism. I was inspired by the 'Red Stockings' who organized the 1975 Icelandic women's strike and they were successful!

What is happening in the world, the wars and crises that leave me stunned, moves me deeply and I want to express that through my work. My art is my way of refusing to look away and making visible what we often ignore or want to close our eyes to. Whether it is intersectional feminism, queer rights, the rights of Black people and People of Color, or the struggle for freedom in places like Iran, Ukraine and others. I believe that if it moves me, it might move others, too. For me, it’s about humanity and the courage to actually show it, so we don't forget what being human truly means.
